What is Psoriatic Arthritis?

Psoriatic arthritis is a type of arthritis that may develop in those who have psoriasis. It is characterized by pain, swelling, and stiffness in the joints just as with rheumatoid or osteoarthritis. In most cases, psoriasis lesions are diagnosed before the signs and symptoms of psoriatic arthritis.

Treatment may include anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen, drugs that work on the immune system (antifolates like methotrexate), or injectable biologics (TNF blockers like Enbrel or Humira).
