Viibryd is taken once daily with food and is available in both brand and generic forms. In contrast, Drizalma Sprinkle is only available as a brand name and can be taken with or without food, either once or twice daily. Drizalma Sprinkle is unique because its capsules can be opened and sprinkled over applesauce, making it easier for those who have trouble swallowing pills. Viibryd is primarily used for major depressive disorder in adults, whereas Drizalma Sprinkle is also approved for anxiety, nerve pain from diabetes, fibromyalgia, and long-term pain in muscles, bones, and joints. Both medications can cause withdrawal symptoms if stopped suddenly and have risks of serious side effects like suicidal thoughts and serotonin syndrome. However, unlike Viibryd, Drizalma Sprinkle also carries a risk of liver failure.
