Cholesterol absorption inhibitor / statin combinations are used to lower high cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of related heart problems, such as a heart attack or stroke. They include a statin, which lowers the amount of cholesterol produced in your body. They also include a medication that reduces how much cholesterol you absorb from your diet. These combinations are available as oral tablets and you'll typically take them once daily. Examples include ezetimibe / simvastatin (Vytorin) and rosuvastatin / ezetimibe (Roszet).
