The MMR vaccine (M-M-R II) protects against measles, mumps, and rubella. It is recommended that children receive two doses, at 12 - 15 months, and at 4 - 6 years. Adults may also be vaccinated. The ProQuad vaccine protects against measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella (chicken pox). Children receiving ProQuad do not also need VariVax, the individual vaccination for chicken pox.
