Synjardy (empagliflozin/metformin) is used to treat type 2 diabetes. Synjardy is an SGLT2 inhibitor/biguanide combination, which works by lowering blood sugar by removing excess glucose through the kidneys and lowering the amount of glucose that is made and absorbed by the body. The most common form of Synjardy is a 12.5mg/1000mg tablet. It is also available as 12.5mg/500mg, 5mg/1000mg, and 5mg/500mg tablets. There are currently no generic alternatives for Synjardy. It is covered by some Medicare and insurance plans, but some pharmacy coupons or cash prices may be lower. Compare SGLT2 inhibitor / biguanide combinations.
