About Botox

prescription bottle
Botox (onabotulinumtoxin a) is used to treat cervical dystonia, excessive sweating, chronic migraine, overactive bladder, and spasticity. Botox is an acetylcholine release inhibitor, which works by relaxing muscles, preventing muscle spasms, and blocking nerves that produce sweat. The most common form of Botox is a 200 unit vial. It is also available as a 100 unit vial. It is available in both generic and brand versions. It is covered by some Medicare and insurance plans, but some pharmacy coupons or cash prices may be lower.

With the Patient Assistance Program from AbbVie, you can receive up to 12 months of medication at no cost to you if you are approved. You can also reapply as needed.
