What Is Excessive Sweating?

Comprehensive information for you or a loved one — including treatment options and discounts on popular medications.

Excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis is a condition in which a person sweats profusely and at any time. People with this condition have overactive sweat glands and nothing triggers it. Excessive sweating caused by another condition is called secondary hyperhidrosis.

Treatments for hyperhidrosis include using antiperspirants, medication, Botox injections, and surgery. Antiperspirants such as Drysol and Hypercare contain aluminum chloride which plugs sweat ducts. Acetylcholine release inhibitors are also used to treat excessive sweating.
