As prescription medication costs continue to rise, GoodRx continues working to bring patients the lowest prices possible.

Prices

This March, GoodRx has found new lower discounts on several common medications at the major chain retail pharmacies: Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, Kroger, and Costco. The biggest price drops are:

Medication Treats New price Percent savings
Prednisone (Deltasone, Sterapred) Asthma, allergies, arthritis, and more $5.05 (10 tablets, 10 mg) 41%
Sildenafil (Viagra, Revatio) Erectile dysfunction $5.01 (6 tablets, 50 mg) 41%
Liothyronine (Cytomel) Thyroid deficiency $29.52 (90 tablets, 5 mcg) 25%
Albuterol (Accuneb, Proair, Ventolin, Proventil) Bronchospasm $28.99 (1inhaler, 18 g, 90 mcg) 25%
Lisinopril/HCTZ (Prinzide, Zestoretic) High blood pressure $6.54 (30 tablets, 10 mg/12.5 mg) 18%

A few of these new prices could prove helpful for a wide range of patients. Prednisone, for example, treats inflammation caused by many conditions, like asthma, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis. A 41% drop in the price of prednisone — a drug used for over 20 conditions — will help many people afford their treatment.

Similarly, a 25% deeper discount on the asthma inhaler Albuterol will provide relief for those who struggle to afford this treatment. Inhalers are notoriously expensive but widely used to relieve bronchospasm (constricting of the airways) and prevent exercise-induced asthma.

Lisinopril is a commonly-prescribed medication used to treat high blood pressure. Thankfully, it’s already considered relatively inexpensive. Regardless, an 18% price drop will keep more of your money where it belongs — in your wallet.

These are just a few of the common medications with deeper GoodRx discounts in March. Read on to learn more about the additional savings this month.

The savings, by pharmacy

For those who shop by pharmacy, here are new lower discounts available now at Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, Kroger, and Costco when using a GoodRx coupon.

Additional Savings at Walmart
Drug name New price Price drop
Amoxicillin (21 capsules, 500 mg) $7.76 10%
Fluconazole (1 tablet, 150 mg) $7.84 14%
Azithromycin (2 tablets, 500mg) $12.10 11%

Amoxicillin is a generic antibiotic that treats bacterial infections like strep throat, ulcers, and sinusitis. Research suggests that bacterial infections are more common in the summer. A 10% price drop at Walmart on this antibiotic is good to keep in mind as the warmer months approach.

Additional Savings at Walgreens

Sulfamethoxazole / Trimethoprim (20 tablets, 800 mg/160 mg) $11.73 10%
Spironolactone (30 tablets, 25 mg) $9.72 13%

At Walgreens specifically, prednisone is seeing a 22% additional savings in March. Again, this is a widely prescribed medication to treat many conditions. If you’re taking prednisone and prefer to get your medications from Walgreens, use this opportunity to save more.
