Amy jokes that, as a little girl, she didn’t necessarily dream of a job in healthcare insurance. However, she has always valued helping people, something she is able to do through her everyday work as an employee benefits advisor in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Amy educates and consults with businesses that might not know about the range of resources available to them when it comes to implementing healthcare programs for their employees.

We caught up with Amy after she posted the following video on how she uses GoodRx with her clients and their employees.

As you can see, Amy is devoted to her job — passionate about advocating for human resources professionals within mid-sized companies. She uses her expertise to create efficiencies within organizations.

“I believe in putting people first,” she tells us. “I value our client and associate relationships and the fresh perspective each individual brings to the table.”

Being in the industry for 8 years, Amy noticed a commonality among her clientele: a lack of comprehensive knowledge about healthcare insurance and the benefits available to employees. Amy wanted to change the dialogue in order to make health insurance more approachable and understandable in her conversations with clients.

That’s when she came up with “The Benefit Diaries,” a series of short 1 to 2 minute videos designed to educate consumers on their health benefits. In her videos, Amy simplifies industry jargon, explains how benefits work, and offers solutions for saving money. Her mission is to create a world full of empowered and engaged healthcare consumers.

Amy learned about GoodRx from her friend, Kelly, a business owner and single mother of two children. Kelly was on a high deductible health plan (HDHP) and was researching ways to save money at the pharmacy. By using GoodRx coupons, she was able to save a substantial amount on her prescription medications. Amy’s interest was piqued, so she began looking into GoodRx as a tool she could share with her own clients.

“GoodRx turned out to be a great resource for employers that offer an HDHP plan,” Amy told us. “Because the member has to pay 100% for all their prescriptions until they reach their deductible, we want to provide them with as many cost-saving resources as possible.”

With rising health premiums, she says, more and more businesses are not only offering an HDHP plan but are also increasing their deductibles to absorb the cost. When a company renews its healthcare enrollment, plan offerings can sometimes change, and so HDHPs are introduced in an effort to save the company money. Employees on prescription medications bear the brunt of this change. This can present financial difficulties for people who are taking maintenance medications.

That’s where Amy — and GoodRx — come in.

“Employers want to help their associates, so they look to us to help provide additional resources,” she says. “GoodRx is a perfect example of a resource we bring to the table.”

Since introducing GoodRx to her clients, Amy has received a lot of positive feedback from HR managers. “Even though, as a company, it can be a hard decision to take benefits away,” she says, “it’s great to know we can provide GoodRx as a resource to provide members with more options to save.”
