Human immunoglobulin Gs (IgGs) are used to treat primary immunodeficiency, chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), and immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). Some have other uses, such as preventing hepatitis B infections in certain people with weakened immune systems. Human IgGs work by providing the body with antibodies that help fight infections and regulate the immune system. These medications are usually given as injections, either intravenously (IV) or subcutaneously (under the skin). Examples include Gammagard, Cuvitru, and Gamunex-C. You can discuss with your healthcare provider which form and brand are best for you.
