The following side effects may get better over time as your body gets used to the medication. Let your healthcare provider know immediately if you continue to experience these symptoms or if they worsen over time.

Atripla serious side effects
Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any of the following.
- Serious liver problems: nausea, stomach pain, loss of appetite, tiredness, yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes, clay-colored stools
- Changes in mental health: depression, suicidal thoughts and behavior, aggression, abnormal thinking, delusions, paranoia
- Kidney problems: tiredness; urinating less than usual; swelling in your legs, ankles, or feet; muscle pain
- Bone problems: bone pain, misshapen bone, broken bone
- Buildup of lactic acid in the blood (lactic acidosis): feeling more tired or weak, confusion, belly pain, muscle pain, fast heart rate, rapid breathing
- Severe rash: blistering, sores, peeling skin, fever

Side effects that you should report to your care team as soon as possible:
- Allergic reactions—skin rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
- Heart rhythm changes—fast or irregular heartbeat, dizziness, feeling faint or lightheaded, chest pain, trouble breathing
- High lactic acid level—muscle pain or cramps, stomach pain, trouble breathing, general discomfort and fatigue
- Infection—fever, chills, cough, or sore throat
- Kidney injury—decrease in the amount of urine, swelling of the ankles, hands, or feet
- Lipodystrophy—increased fat in the upper back or midsection, decreased fat in the face, arms, or legs
- Liver injury—right upper belly pain, loss of appetite, nausea, light-colored stool, dark yellow or brown urine, yellowing skin or eyes, unusual weakness or fatigue
- Mood and behavior changes—anxiety, nervousness, confusion, hallucinations, irritability, hostility, thoughts of suicide or self-harm, worsening mood, feelings of depression
- Pain, tingling, or numbness in the hands or feet, muscle weakness, change in vision, confusion or trouble speaking, loss of balance or coordination, trouble walking, seizures
- Redness, blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin, including inside the mouth
