What is Lipodystrophy?

Lipodystrophy refers to an abnormal or degenerative condition of the adipose or fat tissue, also sometimes known as fat redistribution syndrome. This can involve a buildup or loss of fat in certain areas of the body, or high levels of fats or sugars in the blood. HIV medications and insulin injections can sometimes cause lipodystrophy, but it may also be a congenital condition.

is characterized by high blood pressure and high levels of protein in the urine in the late second or third trimester of pregnancy. It can develop into pregnancy-related seizures called eclampsia, which can be life-threatening to both the mother and fetus.\n\nThe only cure for preeclampsia is delivery. However, certain beta blockers and calcium channel blockers may be used to treat the high blood pressure, and magnesium sulfate may be used to prevent seizures.
