- Heart failure and fluid buildup in lungs
- Changes in heart rate
- Chest pain
- Muscle pain or cramps
- Numbness, burning, or tingling in arms or legs
- Sweating
- Sleep disturbances or trouble sleeping (insomnia)
- Confusion
- Blurred vision
- Ringing in ears
- Enlarged breasts
- Frequent urination
- Flushed skin
- Rash
Verapamil ER serious side effects
Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any of the following.
- Heart rhythm problems: chest pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, fainting, feeling like your heart skipped a beat, severe tiredness
- Heart failure: shortness of breath, cough, tiredness, swelling of arms or legs, quick weight gain, dizziness
- Liver problems: yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), stomach pain or swelling, loss of appetite, dark urine, nausea, vomiting, confusion
- Low blood pressure: dizziness, lightheadedness, weakness or tiredness, blurred vision, feeling thirsty, sweating, cold or pale skin, confusion, fast breathing

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.
Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:
Less common
Blue lips and fingernails
blurred vision
burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
confusion
coughing that sometimes produces a pink frothy sputum
difficult, fast, noisy breathing, sometimes with wheezing
dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up from a lying or sitting position suddenly
increased sweating
lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
pale skin
shortness of breath
slow or irregular heartbeat
sweating
swelling in legs and ankles
unusual tiredness or weakness
Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects.
