Typical dosage for Mirena
Your provider will place Mirena inside the uterus at their office.
- Prevent pregnancy: Mirena will stay in place for up to 8 years. Then, your provider will remove the IUD at their office.
- Heavy menstrual bleeding: Mirena will stay in place for up to 5 years. Then, your provider will remove the IUD at their office.
