As we continue to see record-high unemployment claims, many Americans are looking for every opportunity to save. And while families create new budgets to handle unpredictable financial situations, certain expenses are cut out as nonessential. At GoodRx, we believe prescription medications should never have to be sacrificed due to cost.

In keeping with our company’s mission of providing affordable and accessible healthcare to all Americans, we are constantly looking for ways to help you save. This July, GoodRx has found new lower discount prices on several common medications at major chain retail pharmacies: Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, Kroger, and Costco. The biggest price drops are:

The deeper July discounts will help patients with a range of different health concerns. The biggest new discount, at an additional 85% off, is on atorvastatin, a popular drug that lowers levels of cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood. It’s commonly prescribed to reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke in patients with risk factors for heart disease.

Albuterol is a generic inhaler medication used to prevent and treat bronchospasms, or asthma attacks. Inhaler prices have steadily risen over time, but thankfully generic versions like albuterol provide some relief to patients whose lives may depend on these medications. An additional 36% savings this month makes it even more accessible.

Prednisone is a common medication that is prescribed to treat everything from arthritis to blood disorders to breathing problems. Though it’s already a relatively inexpensive drug, a new deeper discount of nearly 50% brings the cost of a 30-day supply of 10 mg tablets to around $5.

These are just a few of the common medications with deeper GoodRx discounts in July. Read on to learn more about the additional savings this month.

The savings, by pharmacy

For those who shop by pharmacy, here are new lower discounts available now at Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, Kroger, and Costco when using a GoodRx coupon.

Gabapentin is used to control and prevent seizures in adults. It’s more common than other comparable drugs in the anticonvulsant class of medications and is also prescribed to help relieve the nerve pain caused by shingles. Gabapentin is relatively inexpensive and costs about the same as other medications in its class. But an additional 31% savings at Walmart this month means you might want to consider transferring your prescription there.

Atorvastatin is relatively inexpensive already. But now, you can save an additional 85% on several different quantities and dosages when filling your prescription at Walgreens. It’s the generic version of Lipitor and is typically prescribed to reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke in patients with risk factors for heart disease.

CVS is a great place to go this month if you’re looking to save on your albuterol inhaler. Additionally, promethazine prices have dropped an additional 26% percent at CVS. Promethazine is an inexpensive generic of brand-name drugs Promethegan, Phenadoz, and Phenergan. It’s prescribed to treat allergic reactions and to ease pain or nausea after surgery.

The deepest new discount at Kroger this month is for amoxicillin/potassium clavulanate. This generic is prescribed for certain kinds of bacterial infections and is generally more common than other comparable medications. You can now save an additional 44% on this drug at Kroger.

If you prefer to shop at Costco, you’ll be pleased to know that both amoxicillin/potassium clavulanate and prednisone are also more deeply discounted this month there.
