As we all do our part to contain the new coronavirus outbreak and minimize cases of COVID-19, there are some small steps you can take to specifically help pharmacy staff.
The surface of your phone could be harboring the new coronavirus (along with other germs), as it’s spread through droplets, mucus, and saliva. Instead of handing your phone to a pharmacist with your GoodRx coupon on the screen, use one of these options the next time you need a prescription filled.
If you know your pharmacy is getting ready to fill your prescription, you can call your pharmacy and let them know you’d like to place a coupon on file. Then provide them with the four codes you see on the coupon:
Member ID
RxGroup
RxBIN
RxPCN
If you have access to a printer, you can easily print a Goodrx coupon from your computer. Just find a coupon on goodrx.com, and select the “Print” button on the top left corner of the screen. Then give this printout to a pharmacy staff member when you drop off or pick up your prescription.
You can also write down your prescription and coupon information on a slip of paper, and give that to your pharmacist instead. Be sure to double check the spelling and accuracy of each piece of information:
Drug name (e.g., sertraline)
Dose (e.g., 100 mg, 30 tablets)
Member ID
RXGroup
RxBin
RxPCN
GoodRx has partnered with CVS Pharmacy to offer a service where you can submit a coupon directly from your computer to your CVS or Target (CVS) pharmacy, so you don’t have to present your coupon to a pharmacist at all. The pharmacy will text you when your prescription is ready, and the coupon will already be applied to the price when you pick it up. This service is available at all CVS and Target (CVS) pharmacies in the U.S.
Just search for your medication on goodrx.com and enter your zip code. If the eCoupon feature is available near you, you’ll see a light blue eCoupon icon next to CVS and Target (CVS) pharmacies.
Once you get to the actual coupon, you’ll also see a button that says “eCoupon” at the top of the page. Clicking on that will give you instructions either to:
Send the eCoupon to your CVS pharmacy if they already have your prescription on file
Transfer your prescription to a CVS pharmacy so you can use an eCoupon
There are some exceptions to this service. For example, you can’t use an eCoupon if you’re under 18 years old or your prescription is for a specialty medication. For more information about these exceptions and how to use an eCoupon, see our guide here.
