Another option is the varicella-zoster immune globulin (Varizig), which is an injectable medication used to help prevent chickenpox or reduce symptom severity after a person is exposed to the varicella-zoster virus. Chickenpox vaccines are recommmended to help prevent infection with the varicella-zoster virus. Examples of chickenpox vaccines include the varicella vaccine (Varivax) and the combination measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella vaccine (Proquad), which are given as injections. These treatments help manage and prevent chickenpox effectively.
