Somatostatin analogues are used to treat acromegaly, diarrhea from neuroendocrine tumors, and severe diarrhea associated with certain cancers. They also have other uses, such as managing Cushing's syndrome. These medications work by lowering levels of several hormones in the body, such as cortisol. Somatostatin analogues come in different forms, including injections and oral capsules. Examples include octreotide (Sandostatin, Sandostatin Lar, Bynfezia Pen), lanreotide (Somatuline Depot), and pasireotide (Signifor, Signifor Lar).
