Experience

Dr. Nahvi is an emergency medicine physician and author of “Code Gray: Death, Life, and Uncertainty in the ER.” He works clinically at Concord Hospital in Concord, New Hampshire, and is a clinical assistant professor of emergency medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. Prior to this, he worked as an ER physician and clinical assistant professor of emergency medicine at the Mount Sinai Health System, NYU Langone Health, NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, and the Manhattan VA. He is a graduate of Cornell University and NYU School of Medicine. He has appeared on NPR's Fresh Air and has written for The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Guardian, Daily News (New York), New York magazine, and other publications. In April 2019, he testified as an expert witness before Congress in the nation’s first Medicare for All hearing.

Education

Dr. Nahvi obtained a Bachelors of Science in Human Biology, Health, and Society with a concentration in Inequality Studies from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. He went on to obtain his Doctor of Medicine from New York University School of Medicine in New York City and completed residency training in emergency medicine at Bellevue Hospital and NYU School of Medicine in NYC. He’s board certified in emergency medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM).
