Adults and children ages 8 years and older
- Days 1 to 3: The typical dose is 100 mg to 125 mg by mouth at bedtime.
- Days 4 to 6: The typical dose is 100 mg to 125 mg by mouth twice a day.
- Days 7 to 9: The typical dose is 100 mg to 125 mg by mouth three times a day.
- Day 10 and thereafter: The typical dose is 250 mg by mouth three or four times a day. Some people might need a higher dose, but the maximum dose is 500 mg taken four times a day.

- Days 1 to 3: The typical dose is 50 mg by mouth at bedtime.
