Methodology
We calculated the annual share of prescription fills by gender for each medication using a representative sample of U.S. prescription fills from January 1, 2022, through June 15, 2026. We also grouped medications by FDA-approved, on-label indication: weight-loss medications included Zepbound, Wegovy, Foundayo, Saxenda, and liraglutide (Saxenda), while Type 2 diabetes medications included Ozempic, Mounjaro, Victoza, and liraglutide (Victoza). Fills with unknown gender were removed from gender analyses; fills with unknown age were removed from age analyses.
