Over the last year, our normal way of life has been upended with the onset of the COVID-19 global pandemic. At the same time, America continues to deal with longstanding systemic racial injustices. These circumstances have prompted us to re-evaluate the ways that we could and should be doing more as a company to help underserved groups.

At GoodRx, we hold ourselves accountable to a core set of seven values that guide our work, two of which are ambition and equity. We have created ambitious programs, including our telehealth and cost-comparison services, that are aimed at providing equitable access to healthcare at an affordable price. But there is much more to do in these areas, and our current efforts are just the start.

Since 2019, we have invested in future pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with the GoodRx Pharmacy Innovation Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to five pharmacy technicians pursuing certification and five pharmacy students pursuing their Pharm.D. Applications for this year’s scholarship will open on March 24. You can learn more about the scholarship and check out last year’s recipients here.

In addition to our commitment to pharmacy professionals, we also plan to be more ambitious in tackling racial inequities in healthcare moving forward.

Right now, only 5% of physicians in the U.S. are Black, as they have been historically excluded from studying medicine. In an effort to embody our values, we are proud to announce the inaugural GoodRx Scholarship for Future Black Physicians, which will be awarded to five Black medical students and five Black undergraduate pre-medical students. Applications will open on April 7, 2021.

With this scholarship, we hope to help foster a more diverse and inclusive environment in healthcare, where Black healthcare providers are happy, healthy, and supported. You can learn more about this scholarship here.

This scholarship is just a small step in the overall fight against racial and social disparities in healthcare. GoodRx plans to continue addressing these systemic issues through future programs, and you can expect to hear more from us in this space.

GoodRx, Inc. proudly ran scholarship programs for healthcare students from 2019 to 2021. Since 2022, GoodRx Helps, an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has funded and operated scholarships for healthcare students from underrepresented groups. Learn more here.
