Racism is a public health crisis that America needs to confront.
At GoodRx, we are committed to equality and fairness. We stand in unity with our Black employees, their families, and Black communities in the fight against racism, which resulted in the murder of George Floyd and countless other innocent Black victims of racial violence.
Almost 1 in 4 Black Americans live in poverty, a rate twice that of white Americans. These groups are twice as likely to be uninsured. Black Americans are dying from COVID-19 at a rate three times that of other ethnicities, and they experience far higher rates of high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease, in part due to racial biases that permeate our healthcare institutions.
But this is about more than numbers. Today, GoodRx commits to increasing our efforts to address racial inequity, including:
Partnering with clinics across the nation that emphasize treatment for people of color and directing $3 million in free medication for patients over the next 3 years.
Donating $50,000 within 90 days to organizations that address issues of racial equity and social justice.
Investing additional resources to recruit more minority candidates, especially on engineering and executive levels, evaluating new retention strategies for minorities, and holding ourselves accountable to reach measurable goals.
We will also do more to change our own culture within GoodRx — to recognize and support the diversity that all our employees bring to work.
One organization alone can’t solve this problem. But we pledge to listen, learn, and be part of the solution. This is just the beginning.
