Benznidazole Side Effects
What should I watch for?
Tell your doctor or health care professional if your symptoms do not start to get better or if they get worse.
Avoid alcoholic drinks and products containing alcohol while you are taking this medicine and for at least 3 days afterward. Alcohol may make you feel dizzy, sick, or flushed.
Do not become pregnant while taking this medicine. Women should inform their doctor if they wish to become pregnant or think they might be pregnant. If you are a female who can become pregnant, you should use effective birth control during treatment and for at least 5 days after treatment. There is a potential for serious side effects to an unborn child. Talk to your health care professional or pharmacist for more information.
Side Effects to watch for
Side effects that you should report to your doctor or health care professional as soon as possible:
- allergic reactions like skin rash, itching or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue
- breathing problems
- fever or chills, sore throat
- pain, tingling, numbness in the hands or feet
- unusual bleeding or bruising
- unusually weak or tired
