Belsomra (suvorexant) is used to treat insomnia. Belsomra is an orexin receptor antagonist which works by inhibiting the neurotransmitter orexin, which is involved in wakefulness. The most common form of belsomra is a 10mg tablet. It is also available as a 5mg, 15mg, and 20mg tablet. There are currently no generic alternatives for belsomra. It is covered by some Medicare and insurance plans, but some pharmacy coupons or cash prices may be lower.
