A 2022 study found that two doses of Shingrix continue to protect adults ages 50 years and older from shingles for at least 10 years. At the end of the 10-year period, the vaccine was estimated to be approximately 73% effective. It’s possible that protection from two Shingrix doses lasts longer than 10 years. But more research is needed to know for sure. And even though effectiveness may wane slightly over time, additional (booster) doses aren’t currently recommended.
