Experience

Payton Sy, BSN, RN, is a registered nurse with experience in women's health, primary care, and health insurance utilization management. She also worked as a certified nursing assistant in the senior health space before attending nursing school. 

With over 7 years of healthcare experience, Payton has worked in multiple health systems and has a passion for patient education, which she uses to inform her writing. Payton is also a contributor to U.S. News Health, Moxie Scrubs, Working Nurse magazine, and other health publications. 

Education

Payton graduated from Brigham Young University - Idaho in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in nursing. She started her nursing career in labor and delivery and postpartum and then pivoted to the primary care space. 

While working in preventative health, Payton became an established preceptor and wrote facility training guides for new nurses. She also became passionate about patient teaching, as she was the primary nurse educator for new diabetic patients and allergy immunotherapy patients. After that, she worked in health insurance utilization review, learning the ropes of the insurance industry and prior authorizations for health services and medications.
