Highlights

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) with master’s degree in public health

  • American Writers and Artists Institute (AWAI) verified writer

  • Proponent of the One Health Initiative encouraging collaboration between human and animal medicine

I am a big proponent of the One Health perspective, where animal health and human health are closely intertwined. When I write content, I try to clarify health topics to make it easier for the average person to understand so that we never take for granted how much animal health and human health depend on each other.

Experience

Chris Vanderhoof, DVM, MPH, has been involved with the veterinary field for over 20 years, since working as an assistant at a local veterinary clinic. After earning an associate’s degree in veterinary technology in 2005, Chris transferred to Virginia Tech where he went on to complete his bachelor’s degree, then his doctorate and master’s. During his career, Chris has worked with horses and other large animals, as well as dogs and cats.

Following his interest in public health and how this relates to animal health, he has traveled several times to Haiti in the Caribbean, where he completed his masters thesis. While there, he worked with local veterinarians to better understand the importance of the liver fluke parasite.

Ever since he was very little, Chris has always enjoyed writing. Combining his interests in both animal health and writing, Chris began writing articles and other content in 2017. Since then, he has published over 50 articles on various animal health and medicine topics. Chris started Paramount Animal Health Writing Solutions (PAHWS) in 2018.

Chris is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association (VVMA). He is also a verified writer with the American Writers and Artists Institute (AWAI).
