Tromethamine

Tromethamine is part of the Alkalinizing Agents class and treats Metabolic Acidosis. Alkalinizing agents are used to treat conditions associated with a low pH in the body. Some medications can work to treat gout and kidney stones by neutralizing uric acid in the blood and urine to keep down inflammation of the joints, and to prevent the formation of stones in the kidney. Others like sodium bicarbonate are available without a prescription to ease heartburn and acid indigestion. Tromethamine is only available as a generic drug.
