If your gums bleed when you brush or floss your teeth, you may have gingivitis. This is the early stage of gum disease. You may also notice that your gums appear red and swollen, and that they are pulling away from your teeth.

Gum disease isn’t the only cause of bleeding. Here are other potential causes of bleeding gums.
