Kellie Gormly has been a journalist for more than 25 years and served as a staff writer at the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, The Associated Press, and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. She has won and been a finalist for several Golden Quill Awards. As a freelance writer, Gormly has written for many prominent publications and organizations, including The Washington Post, Smithsonian, Woman's World, and History.com. She is the author of the 2023 Civil War book, "Cease Firing! Life and Death at The Swope Manor," and the founder and CEO of Geeky Chic Publications.
Raised in Scottsdale, Arizona, Gormly earned her Bachelor of Arts in journalism from the University of Texas at Arlington. A few years later, she earned a Master of Arts in public affairs reporting from the University of Illinois at Springfield. As a graduate student, Gormly worked an internship covering the Illinois state legislature for a group of newspapers.
