Catherine Barnette, DVM, is a small animal veterinarian with 14 years of experience providing preventive care, medical workups, and surgical services in a number of general veterinary practices. She also served on her county's board of health for several years and taught biology laboratories for college students.
In 2020, Barnette shifted her focus from clinical practice to veterinary writing. She now uses her veterinary background to create educational content for pet owners, supplementing the information that pet owners receive from their family veterinarian. Additionally, Barnette creates educational content for veterinarians and speaks at veterinary meetings and conferences.
Barnette is a member of both the American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Medical Writers Association.
Barnette received her undergraduate education at the University of Florida, earning a Bachelor of Science in zoology (with honors) in 2000. She then went on to attend the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating cum laude in 2006. While in veterinary school, Barnette completed externships with both the Centers for Disease Control and the Florida Department of Health.
