Tiotropium bromide (Spiriva Respimat) is an anticholinergic, which relaxes the airways and helps keep them open.

Olodaterol (Striverdi Respimat) is a long-acting beta-2 agonist, which relaxes the muscle in the airways, making breathing easier.

What is unique about the Respimat inhalation device?

The Respimat from Boehringer Ingelheim is their new platform device that provides a pre-measured amount of medicine in a slow-moving mist to helps patients inhale the medicine. It was developed to actively deliver medication in a way that does not depend on how fast you breathe in the air from your inhaler.

Some other advantages to using the Respimat inhaler include more efficient delivery of your medications, a dose indicator, and ease and convenience of use. It’s also the first inhaler available in the US that uses spring force to deliver medication, rather than a propellant.

How is Stiolto Respimat used?

The recommended dose for Stiolto Respimat is two inhalations, taken once daily (at the same time of day).

How is Stiolto Respimat supplied?

The Stiolto Respimat inhaler contains 60 metered sprays, which is equal to a 30-day supply of medication. It comes in a carton with one cartridge, and one inhaler device.

Even though there are other Respimat inhalers out there, the Stiolto cartridge is only intended for use with the Stiolto Respimat inhaler and should not be interchanged with any other Respimat device (like Spiriva or Striverdi).

What are the most common side effects associated with Stiolto Respimat?

Side effects may include a runny nose, cough, and back pain.

What other medications are available with the Respimat inhaler?

Along with Spiriva and Striverdi, Combivent also uses the Respimat device.
