What is Restora?

What is Restora used for?

How Restora works

Restora is a combination of two different dietary supplements:

  • Lactobacillus casei (or probiotic KE-99) is a particular species of "good" bacteria that might offer many health benefits, including supporting your gut health.

  • Omega-3 fatty acids are fats that have many functions in our bodies, like building and supporting cells. The manufacturer of Restora claims omega-3 fish oil can help the probiotic in this product work better.

        Frequently asked questions about Restora

Can Restora raise blood sugar levels?
While some studies suggest that omega-3 fish oils (an ingredient in Restora) might raise blood sugar levels in people with diabetes, other studies do not support this. On the other hand, lactobacillus, another ingredient in Restora, has shown potential in lowering blood sugar. If you have diabetes and notice changes in your blood sugar after starting Restora, discuss this with your healthcare professional (HCP).
        How fast does Restora work?
It's difficult to say since it's different for everyone. If you've been taking Restora consistently as directed and you're still experiencing constipation, diarrhea, gas, and bloating, speak with your HCP about other options to help your symptoms.
Can Restora help with occasional digestive problems?
Maybe. Probiotics like Restora can help protect your gut health. Because of this, they have many potential benefits related to gut health like constipation, gas, bloating, and diarrhea. But more research is needed to confirm that probiotics can greatly help improve these digestive problems.
Is Restora the same as Restora RX?
Although both Restora and Restora RX work to help support your gut health, they're different medications. Restora RX contains folic acid and lactobacillus, and it's only available with a prescription. Restora contains fish oil and lactobacillus, and it's available to purchase over the counter. Additionally, Restora RX capsules contain a higher amount of lactobacillus (60 mg) compared to Restora (45 mg). Speak with your HCP to see which medication is best for you.
Can I take Restora if I have a weak immune system?
If you have a weakened immune system, speak with your healthcare team before taking Restora to make sure it's safe for you. People with a weakened immune system have a higher risk of harmful effects, such as getting infections, when taking medications with live bacteria.
Can I take Restora with my antibiotics?
Probiotics like Restora might be able to improve stomach-related side effects like diarrhea that might happen when you take antibiotics. Probiotics might help replace the gut bacteria that's lost from the use of antibiotics and restore your gut health. If you've been prescribed an antibiotic, discuss with your HCP to see if you should also take a probiotic.
Does Restora have a fishy smell or taste?
The manufacturer claims that Restora doesn't smell or taste like anything. If your capsules have a strange taste or smell, this might mean they aren't good anymore, and you might have to throw them away.
