Ultraviolet light from the sun’s rays appears to be naturally soothing for psoriasis symptoms. Sunlight may reduce inflammation, cause skin cells to turn over less rapidly, and improve the appearance of psoriasis plaques, according to Suzanne Friedler, MD, a dermatologist in New York City.

Keep in mind that too much sunlight is not good for you, whether you have psoriasis or not. Talk to your dermatologist about safe sun exposure and how to reduce your risk of skin cancer and skin damage.
