Polycythemia Vera

Polycythemia vera is a type of blood cancer that causes the bone marrow to produce excess red blood cells. Symptoms of this condition include itchiness and numbness of the skin, shortness of breath, unusual bleeding, and painful swelling.

This condition has no cure, however it can be managed through medications that reduce the number of red blood cells in the body, and medications that address unwanted symptoms of the condition such as itching and swelling.
