There are two main treatment goals for chronic management of erosive esophagitis (EE), says Aditya Sreenivasan, MD, Gastroenterologist at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. The first way to treat EE is to manage your symptoms, namely heartburn or acid reflux. Another goal of treating EE is to heal the damage to your esophagus.
