Many women with early-stage breast cancers can choose between breast-conserving (lumpectomy) surgery and mastectomy. “There are clear differences between both surgeries, in terms of recurrence, cosmesis, how it’s going to make them look, [and] how it’s going to make them feel,” says Jaime Alberty-Oller, MD, breast cancer oncologist and surgeon at the Dubin Breast Center at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Dr. Alberty is a surgical breast oncologist at the Dubin Breast Center of the Tisch Cancer Institute at Mount Sinai Hospital.
