Experience

Karen Hovav, MD, FAAP, has more than 15 years of experience as an attending pediatrician in a variety of clinical settings. She has worked in a large academic center in an urban city, a small community hospital, a private practice, and an urgent care clinic. She has also volunteered abroad in China as the sole-attending pediatrician in an Operation Smile mission.

Dr. Hovav has a passion for health communication, whether it’s through writing, podcasting, coaching, or clinical practice. She has written articles for WhatsUpMoms to offer parents helpful tips using evidence-based practices. As a medical editor for HippoEducation, she creates video and audio podcasts that provide continuing medical education for physicians. She is also a certified life coach with a special love for providing support to moms of neurodiverse children. She works as a pediatrician in Los Angeles and manages the care of infants and children at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Hovav is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Education

Dr. Hovav graduated magna cum laude from Brandeis University with a dual degree in psychology and neuroscience. She received her medical degree from Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University. She has also completed her pediatric residency at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, where she received extensive training in the care of medically complex children.
