Experience

Patricia Pinto-Garcia, MD, MPH, is a medical editor at GoodRx. She is a licensed, board-certified pediatrician with more than a decade of experience in academic medicine. 

Dr. Garcia began her clinical career as a National Health Services Corps scholar. As part of her academic role, she served as the medical director for the Connecticut Children’s Healthy Homes Program and the co-director of the Hartford Regional Lead Treatment Center. 

She then served as an associate program director for the pediatric residency program at the University of Connecticut, where she also led the advocacy education program. She held senior academic appointments at the University of Connecticut and Quinnipiac University, where she precepted medical students and residents. 

Dr. Garcia has won multiple teaching awards and was induced to the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Her work has been published in multiple peer-reviewed journals, and she was appointed to the National Advisory Council to the National Health Services Corps and served as the American Academy of Pediatrics state climate advocate for Connecticut. 

Outside of her immediate career, Dr. Garcia has supported several organizations that work to improve outcomes for children. She served on the board of directors for the Connecticut Family Support Network and advisory committees for the Hartford Boys and Girls Club and Squash and Education Alliance

Education

Dr. Garcia attended The College of New Jersey, where she received a Bachelor of Science in biology as part of the 7-year accelerated BS/MD program. She then attended Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, where she completed her allopathic medical degree. She also received her master’s degree in public health in environmental and occupational health and justice from Rutgers School of Public Health

Following medical school, Dr. Garcia completed pediatric residency at the University of Connecticut, where she also served as chief resident. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics in general pediatrics (2012) and pediatric hospital medicine (2019).
