Tirosint (
levothyroxine sodium) capsules are used to treat
hypothyroidism. They are also used to treat a certain type of
thyroid cancer. Tirosint is a
thyroxine, which works by replacing a thyroid hormone normally made by the body. This medication is taken by mouth once daily. It's best to take
levothyroxine (Tirosint) on an empty stomach 30 to 60 minutes before breakfast because it can interact with some other medications and foods. Tirosint is available in brand and generic versions. It is covered by some Medicare and insurance plans, but some pharmacy coupons or cash prices may be lower.
With the Patient Assistance Program from IBSA, you can receive your medication at no cost.
