Liptruzet (ezetimibe / atorvastatin) is a combination of two medications, ezetimibe and atorvastatin. Ezetimibe works by reducing the amount of cholesterol that's absorbed by the body. Atorvastatin works by blocking your liver from making cholesterol. By working together, the two medications help lower low-density lipoprotein (LDL, or "bad" cholesterol) and triglycerides.

There's also a combination cholesterol medication currently on the market (ezetimibe / simvastatin (Vytorin)). This medication contains ezetimibe, which is also found in Liptruzet (ezetimibe / atorvastatin) and simvastatin. Simvastatin is similar to atorvastatin, which is the other active ingredient found in Liptruzet (ezetimibe / atorvastatin).
