Hemangioma

Comprehensive information for you or a loved one — including treatment options and discounts on popular medications.

Hemangioma are benign blood vessel tumors characterized by an increased number of vessels filled with blood. They are the most common tumors of childhood, and are usually not dangerous or harmful. They typically appear within the first few weeks of infancy and most will eventually decrease in size or go away on their own without treatment, though it can take years.

If a hemangioma is causing problems however (for example, obstructing vision or breathing), they may be treated. Treatment options include beta blocker medications, or surgical removal.
