A single-patient-use KwikPen is a type of injector pen made by Eli Lilly. It holds multiple doses of medication in one pen. KwikPens are available for multiple medications, including Zepbound.

Zepbound works like two natural gut hormones in the body: GIP and GLP-1. It helps regulate your appetite, digestion, and blood sugar. Zepbound slows the movement of food through your digestive tract, helping you to feel full longer. It also signals your brain to reduce feelings of hunger. Over time, these actions help lower calorie intake, leading to steady weight loss.

Learn more about how Zepbound works

During clinical trials, people taking Zepbound (tirzepatide) started noticing weight loss about 4 weeks after starting it. This is how long it takes the medication to reach consistent levels in your body. Zepbound’s clinical trial ran for 72 weeks (about 16.5 months). People continued to lose weight throughout the study, but the greatest results were seen during the first 8 to 9 months of using Zepbound.

Zepbound (tirzepatide) is considered safe for many people. It can cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach pain, which usually improve over time. But Zepbound has also been linked to more serious side effects, such as pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, and gastroparesis. Your health history and other factors can help your healthcare provider determine if Zepbound is a good fit for you.

To use your single-patient-use Zepbound KwikPen, start by attaching a pen needle to the pen. Clean your chosen injection site (stomach, thigh, or upper arm) with an alcohol swab. Dial up your dose using the dose knob until you see a “1” in the dose window. Insert the needle into your skin at a 90-degree angle and push down firmly on the dose knob until it stops. You should see a “0” in the dose window. Then count slowly to 5 before removing the needle from your skin.

Inject single-patient-use Zepbound KwikPens subcutaneously (right into the layer of fat under the skin) in the stomach, thigh, or the back of your upper arm. If you choose your stomach, make sure to inject at least 2 inches away from your belly button. If you choose your thigh, aim for the outer side of your middle thigh. If you choose your upper arm, have someone help you inject it at least 3 inches above the elbow and below the shoulder. Rotate injection sites with each injection to help prevent irritation and injection site reactions. Never inject into a muscle or vein.
