Nitrofurantoin (Macrobid, Macrodantin, Furadantin) is an antibiotic used to treat or prevent urinary tract infections. An advantage of nitrofurantoin over several other antibiotics is that it concentrates in your urine to fight the bacteria in your urinary tract.
