Is methylphenidate ER the same as Adderall?

No. Methylphenidate ER is not the same as Adderall. While they're both stimulants that can treat ADHD, they have different active ingredients. Methylphenidate ER is also a long-acting medication which is usually only taken once a day. Adderall is a shorter-acting medication, and you may need to take more than one dose per day. Adderall does come as a long-acting medication called Adderall XR, which is usually taken once a day. Methylphenidate ER and Adderall also have slightly different side effects and interactions to consider. View original source
