Experience

Dr. Robert C. Robinson, III is a board-certified, licensed internal medicine physician with almost two decades of experience and a focus in hospitalist medicine. He currently serves as a Lead Medical Director-Medical Affairs for CVS Caremark. Prior to this role, Dr. Robinson worked clinically in various roles. This includes as a Co-Director of an Hospitalist/Oncology service where he helped to staff an inpatient oncology and bone marrow transplant wards and helped to manage hospitalized adults with cancer diagnoses, and as a hospitalist physician managing hospitalized adults with chronic and complex medical conditions. 

Dr. Robinson also has served in a variety of administrative roles. He was a Chief Medical Informatics Officer (CMIO) of a community hospital in North Carolina and helped to oversee the implementation of electronic health records and computerized physician order entry. Additionally, he is frequently called upon as a media consultant, medical writer, and as an expert witness in medical malpractice cases.

Dr. Robinson is passionate about health disparities and improving health literacy within the urban community. Recognizing the need to empower the community to continue to engage in the healthcare system, Dr. Robinson alongside his wife, Dr. Karla Robinson, established the Urban Housecall Health Media Group — a comprehensive, multimedia health and wellness resource designed to meet the needs of the urban community. Together, they co-authored a book, In Sickness & In Health.

Education

Dr. Robinson completed his undergraduate studies at Xavier University of Louisiana. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and was a member of multiple honor societies.

A native of Chicago, Dr. Robinson went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine where he also completed his residency training.

Dr. Robinson is licensed to practice medicine in multiple states and is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is also an instructor for the American Heart Association, where he is certified to teach CPR, first aid, and basic life support (BLS).
