Experience

Michelle Bloom, MD, is a Cardiologist with 12 years of experience and board certifications incardiovascular disease, advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology, and cardio-oncology.

Dr. Bloom is also an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at Stony Brook University Medical Center. She now serves as director of the center’s Heart Failure and Cardiomyopathy Center.

In addition, she is the founder and co-director of the Stony Brook Cardio-Oncology Program (a first of its kind on Long Island, New York). The program closely observes and cares for cancer patients with, or at risk of developing, cardiac issues before, during, and after cancer therapy.

Her research interests include biomarkers in cardio-oncology and heart failure, and she is passionate about mentoring and helping others (particularly other women in medicine) find an appropriate balance between career and family.

Throughout her career, Dr. Bloom has received many awards including the Castle Connolly Top Doctor Award in both 2020 and 2021.

Education

Dr. Bloom received her undergraduate degree from Brandeis University. She received her medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center and went on to complete an internal medicine residency at Montefiore Medical Center in The Bronx, New York.

After finishing her residency, Dr. Bloom completed both a cardiology and an advanced heart failure/transplant fellowship at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York.
