Margot Lester began her journalism career as a teenager, reporting news from the high school for her local paper. In the course of her 38-year career, she has written for national magazines, big-city newspapers, business journals, and trusted websites. Margot has also written for major medical centers, R-1 universities, and companies — from startups to Fortune 100 corporations. An award-winning journalist and author, she holds certifications in content marketing from Hubspot, MarketingProfs, and Udemy.
Margot is the founder and CEO of The Word Factory, a content marketing agency in Carrboro, North Carolina. She is a frequent guest lecturer for universities and a regular workshop leader at the National High School Journalism Convention. Her popular writing seminar, "The Power of Your Ideas,” has been presented more than 100 times at national and regional conferences, board retreats, and professional development programs. She is the co-author of several books, including the multiple-award-winning “Real Life Guide to Life After College” and “Be a Better Writer.” Margot's journalism and essay writing have also earned accolades.
Margot is a graduate of the School of Journalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
