As an ER doctor, every day I saw the way our current medical system fails to care for patients. I joined GoodRx Health to find a better way to educate people about their health — and in a space where they feel supported. I want to empower people to learn about their bodies and health conditions.

Experience

Katie E. Golden, MD, is a board-certified emergency medicine physician and a medical editor at GoodRx.

After medical school, Katie did her residency training at the Harvard-Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency program. During this time, she was awarded a grant for her research on gender disparities in cardiovascular disease. She published her research in Academic Emergency Medicine and presented it at the American College of Emergency Physicians annual conference.

During residency, she also wrote multiple textbook chapters and published several case studies in heart disease. And she developed an education curriculum for her residency program in biomedical statistics and toxicology. She was the president of the Emergency Medicine Journal Club, which was committed to educating residents about the most up-to-date emergency medicine literature.

After residency, Katie moved to Charlotte to work as a community emergency medicine physician. It was during this period that she developed her medical writing career. This included a blog that educated patients on emergency-related health issues. She worked as an ER doctor for 5 years before transitioning into her current medical editor role at GoodRx.

Education

Katie received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University and her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She returned to Harvard for her residency training in emergency medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham & Women’s Hospital.
